Just saw this on my local 6:00 pm news. Chrysler is ordering this Viper to be crushed. It's been a teaching tool for local kids to get some wrench time.

So they're worried kids will be tempted to hoon it and wreck it or steal it?

That guy in the article's comments who said " it's just a car " shall wake up tomorrow morning to find a very large angry mob of Opponauts surrounding his house.

There was some talk that other Vipers got out into the wild and were involved in wrecks. Sounds like the lawyers got involved.

The point they are missing is that vocational trades are missing in most schools. Schools put so much emphasis on going to college. Guess what? We need people in skilled trades, too. This is what builds things and keeps all the yuppies in new homes and builds bridges and tunnels.
I have a friend, in Canada, where they understand that. That took a welding school class and now has his own business and nets over $400k for himself.

100% agree. Some people are not "office types" they have a passion in plumbing, automotive, etc. It's important we keep this stuff alive!

Thank you so much! I just remember being that age feeling like someone wants to take something you care about.

Anytime! I never got this opportunity... ever. I am 21 and still do not know how to work on a car. It saddens me. However, I do not want future students to feel my pain. Chrysler can suck balls for wanting their own product crushed. What morons. I know forbid myself to buy a Chrysler product.

..Am I missing something? That petition is to add more power to the Viper. (Which is an insanely stupid use of a petition I might add)

I know! Sign the petition and we'll save it. The Oppos need to know. I never had anything this cool in my auto shop class.

All you had to do is look at the shit they are selling. All of it is crap.

This happens all the time. Pre-production cars, cars damaged in transit, the list goes on and on. They are donated to schools and training centers because they cannot legally be sold for road use. Or they carry a defect that would make them dangerous to operate.
I think they pretty much HAVE to "crush" them. Thanks Obama, and all that. If saved, the only thing it'd be good for is to keep it around at the school or wherever collecting dust.
Also, article states it's a "4th off the line 1992". Um, no, that's a 1996+ GTS.
